Ben's Story
In 2018, Ben Dunnam was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Faced with limited traditional treatment options covered by insurance—many of which offered low success rates and poor quality of life—Ben and his family courageously explored alternative therapies, including off-label treatments and international care.
Since it's inception, the tournament has grown into something even greater—a lasting tribute to Ben’s strength and spirit. Each year, it continues to raise funds to support another cancer warrior in the community, carrying forward Ben’s legacy of hope, determination, and unity. To date, this heartfelt effort has raised nearly $100,000 to support those battling cancer.
The local community quickly rallied around Ben, organizing fundraisers and events to support his journey. One of the most impactful efforts was a fishing tournament, created to raise the necessary funds for Ben’s treatment and to show that he was not alone in his fight.
